Terms of Service

The rules for using Voxol · Last updated June 2026

1. About these terms

Voxol is operated by Voxol LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company (“Voxol,” “we,” “us”). Voxol is an online platform where artists post 2D and 3D work for critique and can fund “bounties” that reward the most helpful critiques with tokens. By creating an account or using Voxol, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.

Voxol is operated from Massachusetts, USA. You can reach us by mail at 51 Pleasant St # 884, Malden, MA 02148, United States. Governing law and dispute resolution are in §11.

Where Voxol is offered. Voxol is currently offered only to residents of the United States. By using Voxol - and especially by buying tokens or cashing out - you represent that you are a US resident. We may add eligibility checks and restrict or decline accounts, purchases, or payouts that don’t meet this requirement.

2. Accounts

  • You sign in with Google (handled by our authentication provider, Supabase). You’re responsible for activity on your account and for keeping access to your Google account secure.
  • You provide a display name and username, and may add a bio, role, and avatar.
  • One account per person; don’t impersonate others or misuse another person’s account.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to use Voxol. Because Voxol involves purchasing tokens and earning real-money payouts, the service is intended only for adults.

3. Tokens

  • What they are. Tokens are a limited-purpose digital credit used to fund bounties on Voxol. They are not money, currency, legal tender, a bank deposit, a stored-value or prepaid access instrument, a security, or an investment, and they earn no interest. Tokens have no value outside Voxol except through the cash-out mechanism in the , and they are non-transferable between users except through the bounty mechanics below. Voxol is not a bank, money transmitter, or money-services business, and does not hold funds on deposit for you.
  • Price & value. Tokens start at US$0.07 per token, with volume discounts - 5% off at 500+ and 10% off at 1000+. Buy a preset bundle or any custom amount (minimum 100 tokens) through our payment processor, Stripe. Any applicable sales or use taxes are calculated and added at checkout. On Voxol a token is worth US$0.05 - that's both its spending power in bounties and its cash-out value. The difference between the sale price and that value is how Voxol earns revenue. Purchased tokens are credited to your balance after Stripe confirms payment.
  • Posting work is free. You don’t spend tokens to upload work for critique. Tokens are used to post bounties.
  • Refunds & cash-out. Token purchases, bounty escrow, refunds, and cashing out are all covered by our page.
  • We may change token pricing or pack sizes going forward; changes won’t retroactively re-price tokens you already hold.

4. Bounties

A bounty lets you escrow tokens to reward critiques on a specific piece:

  • Escrow on post. When you post a bounty (minimum 100 tokens) the full amount is immediately debited from your balance and held.
  • Open window. Critics have 24 hours to submit one critique each. There’s a short cooldown (5 minutes) between a critic’s submissions, and you can’t critique your own bounty.
  • Automatic settlement. The moment the window closes, the bounty settles on its own - there’s no separate judging step. Critiques you accepted rank first, then the rest by community upvotes (flagged ones are excluded), and the top three are chosen automatically.
  • Payout. The top three are paid 50 / 30 / 20 of the prize pool. Voxol takes no platform fee at payout - the full pool flows to critics. Tiers that aren’t awarded are refunded to you - see the Refund Policy.
  • You can’t vote on critiques in a bounty you’re competing in.

5. Voxol Teams (paid seats)

  • What it is. Teams are optional private workspaces. Team seats are a paid subscription, billed in advance through Stripe on a recurring basis (per seat, per billing period) and set by the team owner.
  • Auto-renewal & cancellation. Seat subscriptions automatically renew each period until cancelled. You can cancel anytime; your seats stay active through the end of the current paid period and don’t renew after that.
  • No partial refunds. Subscription fees are charged for the period and are not refunded on a partial or pro-rated basis for time already billed, except where required by law. Seat or price changes apply from your next renewal; reducing seats takes effect at the next billing period.
  • Taxes. Any applicable taxes are added at checkout. See the for more.

6. Acceptable use & content rules

  • Be civil. No harassment, hate, threats, or abuse in critiques, replies, or anywhere on the platform.
  • Only upload work you created or have the rights to. No infringing, illegal, or sexual-exploitation content. No adult / NSFW content - sexually explicit or pornographic art is not allowed on Voxol at this time.
  • Automated screening. Uploaded images are automatically screened for disallowed content. Work that fails screening may be hidden pending human review, and repeated violations can lead to suspension. Screening is imperfect - you can also flag content, and we review flagged and reported work.
  • No spam, low-effort, AI-padded, or copy-paste critiques to game bounties. Critiques can be flagged; once a critique passes the flag threshold it becomes ineligible for payout, as do critiques with strongly negative community votes.
  • No self-dealing or manipulation. You can’t vote on or like your own critiques or pieces, manipulate voting, evade the one-critique-per-bounty / cooldown / rate limits, or create multiple accounts to farm bounties or cash-outs.
  • We may remove or hide content, reverse tokens, and suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.

7. Your content & intellectual property

  • You keep your work. You retain all ownership and rights to the art you upload. Voxol claims no ownership of your work.
  • License to operate. You grant Voxol a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, reproduce, and display your uploads and to generate thumbnails, previews, and web-optimized versions, and to send images to an automated moderation provider for screening - solely to run and protect the service. This license ends when you delete the content, except for copies already shared or retained in backups for a reasonable period.
  • Critiques. Critiques and comments you post are licensed to Voxol and the recipient for display within the service.
  • You represent that you own or have permission to upload everything you post.

8. Payments & payouts

Token purchases are processed by Stripe; by purchasing tokens you authorize the charge. Cash-out payouts to critics are made through Stripe Connect - see our page. We don’t receive or store your full card or bank details. See also our .

9. Termination

  • You can stop using Voxol at any time.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or to protect the platform and its users.
  • On account closure, any active bounties you posted continue to settle under the normal bounty rules so critics who already participated are paid fairly. You can request a cash-out of your remaining token balance before closure under the (subject to the minimum); tokens left after closure are forfeited. Note that a token purchase itself is non-refundable even though tokens can be cashed out. We may withhold closure or payout where needed to investigate fraud or abuse.

10. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

As is. Voxol is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied - including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that any critique will be accurate, useful, or of a particular quality, or that a bounty will attract critiques.

Not financial, legal, or tax advice. Voxol is a critique platform, not a bank, money transmitter, money-services business, payment processor, broker, or financial or investment service. Tokens are not money, deposits, stored value, or securities. Nothing on Voxol or in these documents is financial, investment, legal, accounting, or tax advice. Payments and identity verification are handled by Stripe under its own terms; you’re responsible for your own taxes, and for consulting your own professionals.

Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Voxol and its owner will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or tokens, arising out of or relating to your use of the service. Our total liability for all claims relating to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US$100. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

Indemnity. You agree to defend and indemnify Voxol and its owner from claims and costs arising out of content you upload or post, your use of the service, or your violation of these terms or others’ rights.

Changes. We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new “last updated” date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law & disputes

These terms and any dispute arising from them or from your use of Voxol are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

Talk to us first. If you have a problem, email support@voxol.io before starting any formal proceeding. We’ll try in good faith to resolve it within 30 days.

Venue. If we can’t resolve it informally, you and Voxol agree that any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts, and each party consents to personal jurisdiction there.
