Help & Guidelines

How Voxol works · Last updated June 2026

Uploading 2D work

  • Formats: PNG, JPG, WEBP, or GIF.
  • Size cap: up to 15 MB per image.
  • What’s shown: feeds and boards show a fast, web-optimized thumbnail; the detail page shows a higher-resolution display version. We keep your original.
  • Screening: uploads are automatically checked for disallowed content; anything that fails is hidden for review. Keep work within the (no adult / NSFW art).
  • Tips: upload at a good resolution with the full piece in frame. Critique pins are placed as a percentage of the image, so they stay accurate at any zoom.

Uploading 3D work

  • Formats: GLB, GLTF, STL, OBJ, or FBX. (.blend isn’t supported - export to .glb first.)
  • Size cap: up to 75 MB per model.
  • What’s shown: feeds show a rendered preview image of your model (set your “preferred view” when uploading); the detail page loads your model in an interactive viewer with orbit, zoom, inspection modes, and screen-space critique drawovers.
  • Prep tips: .glb is the most reliable and compact format. Center your model, keep textures reasonable, and frame a flattering preferred view. Very large source files load more slowly for viewers, so export a web-friendly mesh where you can.

How bounties work

  • Post a bounty on your own piece, escrowing at least 100 tokens. The tokens are held immediately.
  • Open window: critics have 24 hours to each leave one critique.
  • Automatic payout: when the window closes the bounty settles itself - accepted critiques first, then by community upvotes. The top three split 50 / 30 / 20 of the full pool - Voxol takes no fee on payouts.
  • Refunds: any prize tier that isn’t awarded comes back to you in tokens (see the ).

Earning tokens by critiquing

You start with 0 tokens. Earn them by writing strong, specific critiques on open bounties - there’s no minimum length, but low-effort or padded critiques get flagged and don’t pay. Place in the top three and you’re paid in tokens you can use to fund your own bounties or cash out.

Getting paid (cash-out)

Earned and purchased tokens can be converted to real money. Set up payouts once from your Wallet (a quick Stripe-hosted step), then request a cash-out of at least 600 tokens. Cash-outs pay at US$0.05/token on a monthly schedule. Full details - schedule, taxes, and fees - are in the .

How winners are chosen

There’s no separate judging step. While a bounty is open you can accept the critiques you find most valuable, and critics earn community upvotes. The instant the window closes, the bounty settles automatically: accepted critiques rank first, then everything else by net upvotes (flagged critiques are excluded), and the top three are paid. If you accept nothing, the most-upvoted critiques win.

Critic levels

Critics earn a level from the quality of their critiques (their acceptance rate), not volume: Open → Rising → Trusted → Expert. Levels appear as a trust badge. Open bounties are always available so new critics can earn in.

Voting, flagging & how Voxol earns

  • Upvote critiques that help; this is the signal that ranks bounty payouts.
  • You can’t vote on critiques in a bounty you’re competing in, and you can’t vote on or like your own critiques or pieces.
  • Flag low-effort or abusive critiques. Once a critique passes the flag threshold (or its community vote is strongly negative) it becomes ineligible for payout.
  • No payout fee. The entire bounty pool goes to critics, and cash-outs pay full face value - Voxol takes nothing at payout. We earn only on the spread when tokens are bought (sold at $0.07, worth $0.05 on-platform).

The Forum

The Forum is a space to ask questions and talk shop with other artists, separate from critiques on a specific piece. Posts need a title and are text-only; you can tag them by topic, embed any public piece, and reply in threads. Up/downvote posts and replies so the most useful answers rise, and flag anything off-topic or abusive. Start one with New Post on the Forum tab.

Teams

Teams are private workspaces where a group keeps work in shared projects before publishing it. The owner invites members and manages billing. Team seats are a paid, recurring subscription billed through Stripe - auto-renewing, cancel anytime with access through the end of the paid period, and no partial refunds (see and the ).

Strikelist (author tool)

On your own piece you can generate a Strikelist - an AI-built checklist that distills the critiques you’ve approved (plus your own notes) into clear, actionable to-dos. The relevant critique text is sent to our AI provider to produce it; it’s an optional convenience, not a substitute for reading the full critiques.

Notifications & email

Activity on your work appears as in-app notifications (including when your critique is accepted). We’ll also email you for a couple of key events - you got paid from a bounty, or a bounty you posted closed. You can turn those activity emails off anytime in Settings. Need a hand? Use Contact support in the Help menu.
